work right now.
What should I do?

Call your employer as soon as possible after your stroke, or ask your caregiver to call. Here are some things you may want to let your employer know:
  • Tell your employer that you are unable to return to work right now because of the stroke.
  • Tell your employer that you will call as soon as you and your doctor know more.
  • Tell your employer that you want to keep your employee benefits (especially your health insurance) in force.
  • Ask your employer if your company has a disability insurance plan. If the answer is yes, ask your employer to help you apply for benefits.
